Our fish and chips are the jewel in the Great British Eatery crown! When choosing a fish supplier there are two distinct differences. Fish can be either ‘Frozen at Sea’ or wet. ‘Frozen at Sea Fish’ has been caught by larger factory trawlers operating in carefully managed fishing grounds in the Arctic Seas around Iceland, Norway, and Russia. This fish is caught from the sea and then processed, filleted, and frozen within several hours by food factories on board the trawlers. The short time delay between catching and freezing this fish, results in a product of consistent quality that is actually 'fresher than fresh'.

Wet fish has been caught and transported to the end user without being frozen. When wet fish has been caught by small boats close to shore and is served in a fish & chip shop that same night, the fish & chips should be of the highest quality. Unfortunately this is rarely the case. Wet Fish has usually been transported to shore and across the country for several days or even weeks before it is served to consumers, especially if the wet fish has been shipped to the UK from afar due to the current shortage of Cod in the North Sea. Hence ‘Frozen at Sea Fish’, which has been frozen within several hours of being caught, is much fresher than wet fish that has taken several days or weeks to reach a shop. For these reasons Great British Eatery will utilise ‘Frozen at sea Fish’. Great British Eatery will exclusively utilise fish from sustainable stocks in the Icelandic seas due to the concerns over the shortages in native waters.
Key benefits of Great British Eatery using Frozen at Sea Fillets:
Once you try us we think you will agree that our fish and chips are of the highest quality! We fry in a high efficiency Florigo frying range which is hand-built in Holland. Florigo is the market leader in this field and have supplied ranges for Rick Stein’s fish and chip shop, Fortnum & Mason’s and Tom Aitken’s new chip shop in Chelsea. Due to the efficiency of the range our fish and chips spend much less time in the oil meaning that the end product is much healthier and tastier than that of our rivals.

Lashfords products have been enjoyed right across the country and have even been accepted by the royal family! Lashfords have built up a reputation for excellent customer service, which is based on established close working relationships with present customers. They produce 25 varieties of sausage, which include a traditional Cumberland, the Royal, beef and mustard, venison, centurion, and even a balti sausage!

Founded by Mr Albert Lashford in 1889 as a retail butcher in a busy suburb of Birmingham, Lashfords quickly built a reputation for selling only the finest quality meats and meat products. The rapid growth of sales continued and in 1916 his son, Mr Alfred Lashford, joined the company to assist in the ever increasing demand for top quality products. In 1939 when John was 8, he began to work with the family doing general duties and deliveries. Mr John Lashford joined the Company, being trained in the production of manufactured meat products. Moving to new premises in 1965, Mr Lashford explored the sausage market, consequently starting production of several varieties of top quality sausage, faggots and later burgers.
The Company then decided to start entering competitions so that they could introduce the products to a wider market. In 1980 the Company won its first major competition and felt the time was right to market the products through wholesale distributers. Due to his continued support in new products, the Company has now achieved over 150 Awards since 1980 both at home and abroad, and has won the "Top Award Winners in the U.K."award. To enable them cope with the increasing demand for their products, they have moved to a new purpose built unit equipped to the highest specification to conform with the food and hygiene regulations laid down by the EEC, Government and European legislation, and the Environmental Health Authority.
